It was moved by Vanessa Cotton and seconded by Sylvia McClain to accept the 2015 budget which will be displayed on blogger and Facebook for residents to see.
There are still owners who have not paid yearly
maintenance fees. Consenting to pay association dues yearly was part of the
contract homeowners signed when closing on their homes. Paying association dues
is not an option but a legal binding. Liens as well as late fees have been placed on
over 30 properties for failing to pay association dues.
The floor was opened for nomination of board
members. There were no additional nominations from the floor. Board members for
2015 will be Carol Halderman, Becky Byrd and Sylvia McClain
Comments from residents included:
1 Don’t
we need to see the budget before it is
approved? To conduct the meeting more efficiently the board made
the decision to approve the budget . The budget will be made public and placed
on the blog and FB.
2. Why
did the dues immediately jump from $50 to $175?
When residents tried to handle association business on their own in 2004
they were getting nowhere with lack of
involvement and most homeowners not paying the $50. It was decided that a professional expertise
was needed. In order to get this expertise the agency providing it must be
paid. Metcalf has not increased its rates since that time.
3. What’s
being done about people who don’t pay? Liens have been placed on over 30 homes
with late fees included.
4. What
about that porta potty that was on St. John? Rehab was taking place at the home
and it has been sold to a new owner. By the time the complaint was lodged the
company had been contacted and the potty removed. The president has asked that
an addendum be placed in the rules and regulations that porta potties be placed
at the rear of property in the future.
5. How
do we report a complaint? Residents should send their complaint in writing to
Metcalf Realty either by post: Metcalf Realty Co, Inc, 2710 20th
St So, Homewood, AL 35209, or by e-mail, metcalfscan@bellsouth.net
to the attention of Sabrina Gaddy.
Board members will only forward
complaints to Metcalf.
6. What
about cars parked on the street past 24 hours? You should call the sheriff’s
department with the make, model, color and tag number of the car.
With no further comments a motion was made and
seconded to adjourn the meeting. The meeting adjourned at 11:10 a.m.

First impressions are lasting impressions.
The most common route used to get to Heather Pointe is from highway 75 onto St. John Rd. You may have noticed that St. John Rd. is a lot cleaner than it has been in the past. Bill M. of Heather Pointe has periodically kept check on the nuisance of paper, bottles, fast food wrappers and other discards. There are no salaried public works employees in Pinson to keep areas clean so the task falls on the shoulders of the citizen's. As we have seen not everyone is conscientious about where they deposit or rid themselves of trash and garbage. Thanks to Bill M. going the extra mile St. John Rd. is more welcoming and gives a better impression of what lies across the bridge and over the hill..
