PinsonLibrary: Band Together for a Bigger & Better Summer!

We’re so excited to bring 2018’s Summer Reading Program to you! This year’s theme is “Libraries Rock!” & we need you to Band Together for a Bigger & Better Summer!

From our humble beginnings in 2012, when our new library hosted 14 programs for our community up to last year when we offered a program every single day, it has been our goal to grow our summer reading program each year. We want to make 2018 our best summer yet! We will offer activities for children, events for teens, programs for adults, & more! This includes programs about music/art/science, craft events, animal visits, & family night programs. Our library may be small, but we just keep getting bigger & better!

Please consider making a donation:Your donation, no matter what the amount ($5, $10, $20, $50, $200), will help us offer more events & opportunities to win! We can stretch your dollars to provide quality programming & entertainment for you & your entire family all summer long. We understand that everyone can't contribute, but please share this with your friends, family, & local businesses! Every contribution will help us reach our goal!

Interested in Senior Citizen Activities in Pinson?

Last month’s theme was St. Patrick’s Day. Over 54 seniors were in attendance at the Pinson Community Center. Entertainment was provided by “Pure Country” with Raymond Williams, Dwight Finley, and Gerald Burns performing.

The festivities for April will take place, April 24^th,from 10:00 a.m. until noon with a potluck served at 11:45 a.m. or more information and to find out what dish you can bring, call Pat Wise , 205-680-5556

Beginning the second Saturday in April (14^th), show off those shiny, slick wheels that you’re so proud of. Your ride can be new, rebuilt,  vintage … you name it. The bragging begins at 3:00 p.m. in the Rock School parking lot.

• ·       Pinson will be getting a fire training facility off of Old        Pinson Highway.

•    The Pinson City Council voted to give $350 to the ARISS  program at Pinson Valley High School. PVHS was selected to participate in the ARISS program which provides students the experience of connecting with astronauts at the International Space Station. This experience will broaden students knowledge in various curricula with NASA playing an integral part in their learning

Valentine's Day in United States

     Valentine's Day is celebrated on February 14. It is a festival of romantic love and many people give cards, letters, flowers or presents to their spouse or partner. They may also arrange a romantic meal in a restaurant or night in a hotel. Common symbols of Valentine's Day are hearts, red roses and Cupid.

Valentine's Day is not a public holiday. Government offices, stores, schools and other organizations are open as usual.

      There are a number of Saints called Valentine who are honored on February 14. The day became associated with romantic love in the Middle Ages in England. Traditionally, lovers exchanged hand written notes.

     The most common Valentine's Day symbols are the heart, particularly in reds and pinks, and pictures or models of Cupid. Cupid is usually portrayed as a small winged figure with a bow and arrow. In mythology, he uses his arrow to strike the hearts of people. People who have fallen in love are sometimes said to be 'struck by Cupid's arrow. excerpted from timeanddate.com

Heather Pointe  2015 Association Dues 

Under the direction of the Board, at the Annual Meeting of the Heather Pointe Homeowners Association, Inc. held Saturday, November, 8, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at the Pinson Community Center, 6230 Dry Creek Lane, Pinson, AL  35126, it was unanimously voted there will be no increase in Association dues for the upcoming year.   The 2015 yearly dues will remain $175.00.  (You may view a copy of the 2015 Annual Meeting Minutes and Budget at http://heatherpointe.blogspot.com/ or on Heather Pointe’s Facebook page.)

Your Board of Directors for 2015 are Carol Halderman, President, Becky Byrd, Vice-President, Sylvia McClain, Secretary/Treasurer, and Vanessa Cotton, Member at Large.

Your Association dues are necessary to pay for property services such as common area fire dues, street lights, front entrance and all common area maintenance (including  insurance), as well as irrigation, lighting and landscaping for these areas.  These services are not only to protect and maintain the property, but to insure continued appreciation of your home.

Your payment of $175.00 is due February 1, 2015.   (Please remember dues are due on the 1^st and considered late after the 15^th with a late fee of $50.00.)

 A Belated Thank You

Thank you to Wayne Dykes for taking down the Christmas decorations and to Liz Reiff for agreeing to store them for the Heather Pointe community.

Is your pet missing?

A brown and black dog  has been seen roaming around the neighborhood. The animal looks to be  a cocker spaniel, collie mix. Somewhat skittish but appears to be gentle.  Protect your pets and others by keeping them enclosed when not on a leash.

Pinson Valley HS Fine Arts Gala Feb. 19

The event is from 6-8pm. Students will showcase their talents in music, drama, FX makeup demonstrations and original artwork.  Refreshments will be offered .The event is free, but  donations are welcomed.
