Veterans Day is an official United States holiday that honors people who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces, also known as veterans. It is a federal holiday that is observed on November 11. 

Veterans Day 2014 will be observed on Tuesday, November 11th, 2014.   As a federal holiday Veterans Day is usually observed on November 11^th every year.  However, if it occurs on a Sunday then the following Monday is designated as the Federal holiday, and if it occurs on a Saturday then either Saturday or Friday may be designated.

Birmingham Alabama has the oldest Veterans Day parade in America. The Veteran’s Day parade has been in existence for 60 years.

Thanksgiving, or Thanksgiving Day, is a holiday celebrated in the United States on the fourth Thursday in November. It became an official Federal holiday in 1863, when, during the Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national day of "Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens", to be celebrated on Thursday, November 26.^[1] Also, there are reports that the original Thanksgiving proclamation was signed by George Washington.^[2] As a federal and public holiday in the U.S., Thanksgiving is one of the major holidays of the year. Together with Christmas and New Year, Thanksgiving is a part of the broader holiday season. 

No-Fuss Turtle Cake

What You Need

pkg.  (2-layer size) chocolate cake mix

1

tub  (16 oz.) ready-to-spread chocolate frosting

1

cup  thawed COOL WHIP Whipped Topping

3

Tbsp.  caramel ice cream topping

1/2

cup  chopped PLANTERS Pecans

Make It

PREPARE cake batter and bake as directed on package for 13x9-inch cake; cool completely.

SPOON frosting into medium bowl. Add COOL WHIP; whisk until blended. Spread onto cake; drizzle with caramel topping.

SPRINKLE with nuts.

How to Store

Keep frosted cake refrigerated.
